Linda Hamilton-Ross. Emotional Freedom Technique, and Personal Modelling. Linda’s role was to present us with an explanation and demonstration of EFT, our job was to fit this self-help technique into our ‘toolbox’ of modelling tools. There was a really good buzz in the room before we got started, lots of networking, lots of laughter, it was almost a shame to stop the gentle Mozart and play my ‘Sit Down’ tape. Linda has been to talk to us before, as well as attending as a guest, and coming to last year’s summer BBQ, so she feels right at home with the group. This meant she was also comfortable with ‘spontaneous audience participation’ (Nigel interupting). Her relaxed style soon had us captivated as she explained the intricacies of EFT’s pedigree, put together by Gary Craig. A mix of some seriously heavy psycho stuff called ‘thought field therapy’, devised by Roger Callaghan, meridian lines, energy flow, (chinese medicine / acupuncture) and applied NLP, language patterns, etc;. For a fuller understanding or to find out more than you can by reading my report follow the link at the end. (Come back, I haven’t finished!) I had framed the evening, to put it into context with our ‘year of modelling’, as a useful technique to help remove ‘limiting beliefs, or behaviours’ when modelling others and oneself. EFT has wider applications, but as the evening developed I could certainly see how it usefully added to ‘modelling’ and ‘therapy’ uses. Linda shared her own experiences of EFT with personal stories, and stories about her family and other people she has taught this simple procedure. She also used metaphor to explain how to move from ‘symptom’ to cause. Here is my copy of her picture.
